Matthew Tucker

Project Director

Over three decades of public, private, and academic practice, Matthew has helped organizations throughout the US reinvigorate open space and enhance ecological and hydrosocial resilience. He is an established leader, strategic thinker, and designer with diverse career experiences in public realm projects of varying size and scale. His particular expertise is deciphering sites with complex cultural and ecological histories and translating this understanding into remarkable new experiences that connect people and place. He has deep experience leading multidisciplinary teams on large park, trail, and river projects, from the initial proposal through ribbon cutting. He brings a collaborative approach to each project team and offers strong skills in critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and design strategy. Matthew has instructed graduate and undergraduate courses in park and open space design, urban hydrology, ecology, and river systems. He has also lectured at national and state conferences, juried professional awards, authored several publications and exhibitions, and served as a full-time faculty and guest critic at universities in the US and Canada.
